SYSPRO — INTERNAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

SYSPRO is a renowned provider of ERP software solutions which was founded in 1978 and has more than 40 years of industry experience. The company has a global presence with 1,500+ channel partners across 60+ countries. The platform is designed specifically for manufacturers and distributors, serving over 15,000 customers around the world. It utilizes a modern component-based architecture with separated database, business logic and user interface layers providing options for cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployments.

What We Built

We have developed an integrated internal management system for the SYSPRO's ERP platform, improving internal processes through custom applications and data integration with business process automation. Using SYSPRO business object architecture we have developed customized functionalities of order management, financial reporting and inventory control extending capabilities of the core ERP platform without affecting its internal work.

Integration Approach

Being a service-oriented IT company, we did not implement the core ERP platform from scratch. Instead we expanded its capabilities using system integration through SYSPRO's well-established API framework (OData RESTful endpoints, e.net Solutions business objects and WCF services). This allowed us to develop an integrated internal management system.

Our Solutions

Custom Application Development

We have developed custom internal management applications to cater for the specific needs of different business departments, including order management, inventory control, and production planning. Using SYSPRO Application Designer and e.net solution development framework, we developed custom business applications and web applications that integrate perfectly with ERP. Such customizations help in automating repetitive tasks which require prompt and consistent action to avoid bottlenecks.

Data Integration and Supply Chain Connectivity

We have developed custom data integration solutions that help in integrating SYSPRO with other internal and external systems, including customer and suppliers systems. Using SYSPRO OData RESTful API and business objects we have helped our client to achieve easy and accurate data exchange, resulting in faster orders and deliveries.

Automated Financial and Operations Reporting

We have automated financial and operations reporting. Through SYSPRO Embedded Analytics and reporting we have developed custom reporting that provides real time reports for sales orders, aging inventory, debtor aging, and cash flow among others.

Process Automation

In order to improve the internal process flow, the identification and automation of business processes was done in the form of an order to cash, procure to pay, and inventory processes through SYSPRO’s workflow service capabilities.

Architecture

Frontend (SYSPRO UI + Custom Applications)

Based on the custom WordPress framework and provides web/desktop UIs for internal users. Features: custom order management dashboards, inventory control dashboards, production planning and scheduling dashboard, financial reporting and analytics dashboard, data integration & synchronization tools.

Backend (SYSPRO ERP + Custom Services)

Core ERP logic with customizations. Business Objects (business logic self-contained modules within SYSPRO). Custom applications developed on top of the Application Designer. SYSPRO e.net Solutions for developing custom business applications working with business objects.

Data Layer (Microsoft SQL Database)

SYSPRO has switched to a modern architecture with Microsoft SQL database and moved away from C-ISAM files. System wide database (sysprodb) stores the operator, administration, and licensing information. Company database (SysproCompanyT) for each company stores the transactional data in hundreds of tables.

Integration Layer

SYSPRO OData API to access data via REST interface in all functional modules (inventory, production, procurement, sales, finance). SYSPRO e.net Solutions API to develop custom business applications with business objects via REST, SOAP and WCF. SYSPRO Open Reporting API to run and distribute documents programmatically.

Infrastructure

Deployment flexibility – Cloud, On-Premises, or Hybrid. Architecture of SYSPRO is designed to support scalability and can handle multiple branches of international companies. Data storage that is safe with Microsoft SQL.

    Authentication through SYSPRO's internal operator and roles management. SSO capability to connect using Google, LinkedIn, and Microsoft accounts to improve security. Role-based access control with fine-grained permissions.

Methodology

Unit testing (Jest) per commit. Integration testing (Postman) daily. Load testing (k6/Artillery) weekly on staging. Performance degradation of p95 more than 10% is a show stopper for deployment. End-to-end testing of custom applications and data integrations.
